How To Be A Vegan In Los Angeles
How To Be A Vegan In Los Angeles
It's easy. But before we begin...
Important Points
1.) Don't just try to eat fast / junk food without the meat and dairy removed. Eat a wide-variety of fruits and vegetables. This goes for anyone, especially Vegans.
2.) Take vitamin & mineral supplements. Make sure you get enough B12 and Calcium.
3.) Stop making those faces. Soy is not some sort of strange material. It's just a bean / legume. Like green beans, kidney beans, black beans, pinto beans, peanuts, black eyed-peas, chick-peas, lentils, snow peas. Soy beans can be made into all sorts of food, and they contain a high level of protein.
4.) Plan ahead. If you're going to be out around town all day, figure out where you are going to get your Vegan food. Don't wait until you're starving, or you'll be reading the ingredients on a bag of something scary at 7-Eleven.
For just about every common American meal, there is a Vegan substitute. Cheeseburgers, Sausage Pizza, Chicken Burritos, Macaroni & Cheese, Chocolate Milk, Ice Cream, and anything else you can imagine.
Vegan Groceries
Wholefoods is always reliable, although there are smaller local grocers if you look around your neighborhood. Stay home and cook. And take a stroll after dinner.
Vegan Fast Food
It is possible to eat Vegan at places like Subway, Taco Bell, and Chipotle, but I don't recommend it. I only do this in an emergency. Most of the semi-food things you will end up ordering will either be bland or packed with sodium and preservatives. Typically, you'll just end up with a ton of carbohydrates. If you need to eat on the go, try a banana.
